The Jean and Juana Giaume Chamot Drappier Residence

First opened in 1991, the Residence Giaume is currently undergoing major building work on Avenue Hector Otto as part of its full transformation into a nursing home (Ehpad). Expected to be completed by spring 2022, the new structure will be equipped to house residents with reduced autonomy in a warm and friendly living environment; similar to a hotel, entirely new and secure with all the latest technologies available for the residents on site. At the heart of the Hector Otto Foundation, the future Giauma Chamot Drappier Residence will be thus adapted to the evolution overtime of its elderly residents and in particular to their health. Fitted with top quality medical care, the Hector Otto Foundation is thus able to ensure transfers, necessary in certain cases, from the Residence Bellando de Catsro to care and treatment facilities without having to leave the Monegasque territory.

In terms of admissions to these new facilities, applicants must provide proof of Monegasque nationality, or of any other foreign nationality on condition of having lived in the Principality for more than ten years and the spouses of applicants in the two afore-mentioned categories must do the same. Furthermore, subject to availability and without being prejudicial to the afore-mentioned applications, residents from adjacent communes to the Principality are also eligible: Cap d’Ail, La Turbie, Beausoleil, Roquebrune Cap Martin; on condition, however, of being able to justify a historical or personal connection to Monaco, through family or professional ties. 

In general, the eligible age range should be between 75 and 90 years old. With a team of 70 qualified members of staff, including a coordinating doctor, 12 nurses and around thirty auxiliary nurses, the Giaume Chamot Drappier Residence is staffed twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week, with a view to ensuring the best care for each resident according to his or her physical state and personal history.
